Art Jakarta returns this year with Art Jakarta Gardens, a refreshed and innovative format that unfolds in the open landscape of Hutan Kota by Plataran, Jakarta. Running from 7–14 April 2022, the eight-day event introduces a more open and immersive way of experiencing contemporary art, blending indoor and outdoor presentations within a public urban park.

The fair officially opens on April 7 with a ceremony led by Angela Tanoesoedibjo, Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia. The first two days are reserved for invited guests, before opening to the public from April 9 onward.
Art Jakarta Gardens 2022 is supported by Credit Suisse as its principal partner, with Hutan Kota by Plataran as the venue partner and Tumurun Museum, Solo, as cultural partner. Sharing a common mission to elevate Indonesian contemporary art on the global stage, these collaborations reinforce Art Jakarta’s commitment to innovation and cultural exchange.

The new format places a strong emphasis on three-dimensional works, allowing sculptures and installations to be presented naturally within the garden setting. Outdoor highlights include works by leading Indonesian artists such as I Nyoman Nuarta, Dolorosa Sinaga, and Sunaryo, alongside international names including Ashley Bickerton and Dusadee Huntrakul.

Indoor exhibition spaces host 20 galleries from Indonesia and abroad, including ROH (Jakarta), Artsociates (Bandung), Kohesi Initiatives (Yogyakarta), Gajah Gallery (Singapore), and A+ Works of Art (Kuala Lumpur). Several special commissions and exclusive presentations are also featured, marking premieres created specifically for this edition.
Beyond exhibitions, Art Jakarta Gardens expands its educational mission through guided tours, art workshops, documentary film screenings, and a curated NFT exhibition in collaboration with Solana, offering an accessible introduction to digital art and blockchain culture.

With strict health and safety protocols in place, Art Jakarta Gardens 2022 signals the return of shared cultural experiences—reopening public space through art, dialogue, and collective joy.
