Art Jakarta introduces Art Jakarta Papers, a new fair dedicated to paper-based contemporary art, taking place 5–8 February 2026 at City Hall, Pondok Indah Mall 3. The inaugural edition brings together 28 galleries from Indonesia and across Asia, spotlighting works that explore paper as both medium and idea—from drawings and prints to photography, artists’ books, and experimental practices.

Created to elevate paper beyond its often “secondary” status, Art Jakarta Papers positions the medium as intellectually rich, materially expressive, and increasingly relevant within today’s global art market. The fair also features solo presentations by Indonesian artists and a curated programme of talks exploring paper’s role in artistic practice, conservation, and collecting.

This first edition is supported by Lead Partners BCA and Sucor Asset Management, each presenting Special Projects. myBCA Space features a monumental hand-cut paper installation by Rudy Atjeh, symbolising life, growth, and financial awareness through the form of a tree. Sucor AM Corner, created with artist Naufal Abshar, uses papier-mâché chess pieces as a metaphor for investment strategies, complemented by an interactive live chess experience for visitors.

Additional support comes from EDISII, presenting limited-edition fine art prints by Indonesian contemporary artists, created through close collaboration with each artist.

Art Jakarta Papers also includes the acclaimed SPOT section—curated solo presentations of large-scale works by Iwan Effendi (ara contemporary) and photography collective Ruang MES 56 (kohesi Initiatives).

The fair opens by invitation only on 5 February, and to the public 6–8 February 2026. It marks the first chapter of Art Jakarta’s 2026 programme, followed by Art Jakarta Gardens in May and the main Art Jakarta fair in October at JIExpo Kemayoran.
